These annexations are going to hold up? I thought there was some sort of ruling or opinion issued.

Just a lawsuit filed saying they weren't "valid". Judge hasn't even ruled on it. As for now the annexation stands.

Parts of LSU and it's property south of the main campus were not within city limits. They agreed to annex.

Were the LSU areas originally in the City of St George?

I believe he's talking about LSU's South Campus, the area around Gardere/GSRI. The main campus was never in the proposed area.

Not to be a typical, condescending OT prick, but there is oodles of information about this whole deal all over the internet if you're really looking to become informed about it.

Parts of LSU's 2,000+ acres were not in the city limits of BR. They are now all within BR.

The main takeaway from this is it allows for more opportunities to create a contiguous piece of land for Lauberge.

Point taken, I might read up on it. I try just to catch the highlights. It won't have any bearing on me.

Just as an outsider I see how this can work in favor of both entities, because staying together at this point is going to be hard.

Dude, stop. You're wrong again. Nothing owned by LSU has agreed to annex.

I'm sorry. They are strongly considering it...

Page 2 you said all of EBRP gets to vote on it, now you are posting LSU has annexed.

ETA: strongly considering is not the same as being annexed.

I do get the fear of the unknown, but it seems some of this annexing is jumping the gun. Shouldn't they at least wait to see the plan?

Also, I would think BR would have to supplement some income for what they will lose.

The plan was released and the numbers were very suspect. Thus you have major retailers and property owners requesting annexation.

I think it would be too late by that point. I don't know if they could annex if the vote were to pass in favor of StG.

Again, when an incompetent jackass like Lionel Rainey is representing the movement, there will be no shortage of reluctance.

You just kind of come across as a condescending a-hole when discussing this subject, which is strange considering that you rarely ever come across as such when discussing any other issue.
I wasn't aware of that. I appreciate the heads up. I'll work harder being a condescending a-hole when I discuss other issues......

I'd rather come across as a condescending a-hole than a nanny-nanny-boo-boo buffoon like someone else in this thread...

There is no City of St. George and there never has been a City of St. George. It's a Louisiana place name, like Oak Hills or Inniswold, and has no government other than the City-Parish. About 7,000 souls live in this place and they want to create out of whole cloth a city the size of Lafayette, fourth largest city in the state.

How much tax revenue would be collected.
How much it would cost to set up a government, build government buildings, and run a government.
How much money this government would have to build the new schools it would be needing.

It seemed like the numbers were a little "too good to be true". There were various studies (albeit ones done by St. George opposition) that showed that the money taken in would not come close to equaling what would be needed without additional taxes on St. George residents.
