What is the best route/ cities to drive for a BBQ tour?

Starting from Houston looking to end in the Carolinas visiting the main BBQ places.Obviously would have to speed past louisiana, but has anyone ever tried this?

you'd have to stop at my place for the best, but it might be a bit out of the way

i'd skip TN, i live here and wouldn't go out of my way to get bbq in memphis or nashville. TX kicks our arse.

then again, i'm a COW guy, pig doesn't do it for me at all.

If you don't hit Owensboro Kentucky (BBQ capital of the world), then you miss out on the best.

And yes, I'm serious.

Drive from Houston to Lockhart, on to Austin, then go to the airport, and fly to KC.

LOL, the shite in St.Louis is as good or better than anyones BBQ.

KC used to be one of best, but pappys, salt n smoke, bogarts, are as good as it gets any where in this country.

Next time aTm plays in CoMo, stop by Pappys.

I'm a firm believer that anyone can make great bbq, you just have to want to do it. And it doesnt take 5K bbq grills, smokers, etc. I've fired up some great seafood/steaks/BBQ, on a $20 gas grill i got for tailgating. The scallops, shrimp, and tails were perfection.
