What is a Christian therapist?
Just meant that she was a Christian. I wanted a therapist that shared my beliefs. One that understood how important they were in my life.

this should describe pretty much all therapists
Well she was a licensed therapist so yeah, she is gonna be like all therapists. Except that she was a Christian. It's not like she prayed for me in sessions or we did Bible studies together. She just shared my faith...so I felt more comfortable with her that is all. And isn't that what is important? Feeling comfortable with your therapist.

I saw one for a while after my accident and subsequent failure of my relationship with my children's mother. I could definitely still use it but priorities are elsewhere at the moment. One thing this experience has given me is perspective, if you feel like you MAY need help at least talk to someone, anyone, if even just a friend. You're not alone in whatever your trial is

I go once every other year to shoot the shite and get a new script for my happy pills.

I guess it depends why you are there.

I won't discuss exactly why I was there....but I talked about my faith A LOT in my sessions.
Again...it's not like she told me to just "pray about it" in our sessions. But I felt like she could understand me more because we shared the same beliefs. She could help recommend Christian books for me to read on the reasons I was there, recommend bible passages....whenever I asked of course.
It's not like I always insist on Christian providers for my care. I don't care if my primary physician shares my faith....but my therapist...different story.

I saw a free one when I was in college.

I've thought about going back to one but I think it would have to be a female therapist to get anything out of me emotionally.
I think I avoided that on purpose when I went to the old guy. He didn't help me much. Reminded me of my father, and the issue would be never to show emotion. So I always approached it as a battle and would close off emotionally.
He tried his hardest for like 4 months, I made no progress, we talked little. Nothing was accomplished.

My gf wants me to try a female therapist next time also. She said sometimes men find it easier to open up to women, I tend to agree

I don't pay for one but my wife is constantly telling me how fricked up i am. Does that count?

This is me now, except it's every six months. I plan to be completely off Xanax by the end of the summer.

I see one or two or three every evening

Good luck with that, I hope they don't put me on any meds. I prefer a couple cold ones and exercise.

What's a psychiatrist do? We don't talk about feelings do they?

They can prescribe drugs for mental illnesses.

That's probably what I need. I only sleep like 3 hours a night because of anxiety. I have to take 20mg of Ambien to put me out, so my script only ever lasts like half a month and then the other half, I never get any sleep.
I'm like medicating a bear.

Do you have panic attacks with your anxiety, or are you just too "on edge" to sleep?
Psychiatrists also talk about your feelings and/or problems. The difference is they usually treat with drug therapy instead of purely behavioral therapy.

See the word Christian, roll eyes. That type, obviously. No matter what the context is.
