Troop B Traffic Advisory: I-10 east between mile post 213-214 will have alternating lane closures throughout the day due to an early morning crash. An 18 wheeler struck the guardrail on both sides of the interstate and large amounts of guardrail were damaged. DOTD will be making temporary repairs today. Please use US 61 as an alternate route.

LSP urges citizens and motorists to refrain from all unnecessary travel, never drive through flood waters or around barricades, and stay informed of road and weather conditions in your area.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
•Avoid walking or driving through flood waters.
•Do not drive into flooded roadways or around a barricade
•Water may be deeper than it appears and can hide many hazards (sharp objects, washed out road surfaces, electrical wires, chemicals, etc).
•A vehicle caught in swiftly moving water can be swept away in a matter of seconds. Twelve inches of water can float a car or small SUV and 18 inches of water can carry away large vehicles.
•If floodwaters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. Do not leave the car and enter moving water.

Road closures and detours can be found using the Louisiana Traveler Information System through several different methods including the 511 phone system, www.511la.org, LA DOTD Twitter accounts, and the “Way to Geaux” smartphone application.

Depending on the method utilized, the traveler information system allows access to valuable resources such as current road reports on crashes, weather related closures, and construction as well as real time traffic camera views.

Motorists that witness hazardous road conditions and/or reckless drivers are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the nearest Louisiana State Police Troop headquarters.

This weekend is Spring Break for Texas schools and every year this time the flock to New Orleans and Pensacola.

It will be rough eastbound all weekend.

It was flowing around 10 am but now they are working on fixing the guardrail and some work at 310 split also. Have to head into NOLA around 3, may go around Huey P just to be safe.
