Got pulled over in rural mobile Alabama and got a speeding ticket going 18mph over. Any chance I could wipe it by taking a defensive driving course or am I sol? Clean record prior.

I got ticket in WBRP heading back from BR to Houston, 85 in a 70 and I called the Parrish Serriff and asked if I could pay the fine and have it changed to a non-moving violation and they did it so it didn't affect my record......worth a shot....you never know...........

Would it affect insurance in a different state?

why don't you call the local court and ask that same question?

or do you need a community consensus and validation for that, too? fricking millennials

depends on if they find out. Never got a ticket out of state so you might have to call your company and ask.

Call the local sheriff and tell them if he doesn't drop the charges you will have the Alabama football team boycott until he is replaced.

Pay a lawyer to get a dismissed. Always worked for me. My driving record is shiny clean despite getting pulled over for all sorts of stuff.

I would pay the 189$ just so I don't have to drive back to Bama and take a course.

Next time go 79 in a 70.... these rural towns and Parishes don't get to keep the ticket money EXCEPT if you are going 10 and over, or in this case 79 and over.

If they don't get to keep the money, they aint gonna stop you, you dig.

Call number on ticket, tell them you will pay in full if changed to non moving violation. Pretty much works all the time. I'm surprised people don't know this. No need to get a lawyer involved for such a petty matter.

I was hoping to take an approved driving school class where I am now and send them the certificate. But I have no idea if that can be done in AL

Many states only require online courses now anyway

I did a 2 hour online course for a ticket in Florida and that was like 5 years ago

He isn't being a dick, he's completely right. Call the local court and get the correct answer.

Or you could ask on a message board, get the wrong answer, and get surprised and/or screwed when the court tells you the correct one. It's your license.

I honestly wouldn't even worry about a ticket in another state bro.

I have warrants in Lake Charles for speeding. I set my cruise 5 mph under the speed limit whenever I come thru the area now.
