do you guys pay them or not? Supposedly it effects your credit score if you don't pay the fine.

I have paid three and finally learned my lesson. I thought I would balk at paying one of them, but eventually got a letter that it was going to be turned over to a collection agency so I paid up!

No it doesn't touch your credit. Lester Joseph "JOEY" Durel and Dee Stanley are all for it. Throw it in the trash and if they call you demand a contract/promissory note, end of story, they quit. The F'n prick Bruce Conque is also for it as are most of the progressive GOP guys in the city / parish govmnt. Andy Naquin and Jared Bellard have always been against this shite.
Darla it's a fraud. The letter comes from some front group in Ohio. Stand your ground and let them know you're on to the scam, they will remove you from the 'collectible' group.

Paging Will Cover!
Do not pay. This is a scam. They prey on gullible people that will pay the fine. They cannot report you to a credit agency as you did not sign for any debt.
From Will Cover:
1. Real tickets will instruct you to contact the court to resolve matter in question while fake tickets (ATS and RedFlex) may tell you not to contact the court. Fake tickets are sent via regular US Postal Mail service, but appear to be "official," which they are not. Criminal citations are sent by registered or certified mail.
2. In Louisiana, RLC and speed camera citations are NOT a criminal offense. They are treated as CIVIL matter, partly because the OWNER of the vehicle is issued the citation (doesn't matter who is driving) and if contested, you won't be awarded the opportunity to go before a judge. Instead, you will have a hearing with an Administrative Adjudication officer (city appointed).
3. CIVIL offenses are NOT reported to the Louisiana DMV or your insurance company.
4. In Baton Rouge, city officials will NOT turn over your Social Security Number to a private company (ATS and RedFlex).
5. If unpaid fine goes on your credit report, simply dispute online with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Ask them to investigate and validate the debt owed. ATS and RedFlex must provide proof that you entered into an agreement for goods or services or signed promissory note.
6. If threatened with a collection notice or a harassing phone call, do the math. ATS and RedFlex send out thousands upon thousands citations each and every day. This is profitable for them to do, because many people are scared into thinking they have to pay (the media plays a large part in this) and because it's the "right thing to do." But think about the numbers ...
In Los Angeles alone, there are over 50 K red light camera tickets that remain unpaid. In Nassau County, the county has failed to collect on $10 million in unpaid red light camera fines. And in East Baton Rouge parish alone, almost half of the red light tickets for CITY PARISH vehicles have NOT been paid.
One Rule for the City of Baton Rouge. Another rule for the citizens of Baton Rouge.
What's the bottom line? If you think for one minute that a company such as ATS or RedFlex, both of whom are located out of state, are going to take the time, energy and resources (think out of state costs, attorney fees and court cost) to go after you in a court of law for a fine of less than $500.00, pay it.
But if you're like me and are willing to take the "risk," toss it and go on with your life, but for the love of God, please don't create one more post about red light or speed cameras!
I followed his advice and saved myself some money. They literally sent about 12-14 notices and warnings that I would be turned over to a collection agency. Then got a lot of calls from Linebarger, Gogan, Blair and Sampson on my home phone. All scare tactics.

I never paid them. Just threw them in the trash. They're a fraud and a scam. Never heard back from them.
New Orleans is the only place in the state that actually enforces payment on them.

are the speed vans and red light cameras the same company?
Posted on 10/24/15 at 7:45 pm to whoisnickdoobs
Don't pay them in Louisiana.
In Florida you'd be wise to pay. The state government will come after you hard if you don't pay the private company.

I'm surprised the "flash" lights still work at the intersection of Camellia and Settlers Trace considering the abuse my wife has given them, simply by turning right on red.

I guaranty you that once the new governor (assuming it is Vitter) gets in he will start suspending the licenses of people who don't pay these companies. He may have to get legislation pushed through but he will do it since the companies are going to lobby/pay for it.

I've seen that flash, but never received a ticket. Um, there's no right on red there?
Posted on 10/24/15 at 8:40 pm to Asgard Device
my neighbor got over 75 tickets and threw them in the trash , telling me he'd never pay them
his name was on the front page of the Laf Daily Advertiser and he was taken to court by the Lafayette Consolidated Govt for unpaid traffic fines in excess of $2200
he eventually made restitution and paid them in full

I don't see how a city government can take you to court to make you pay a private company. Or does Lafayette own and operate their own cameras and collect the money themselves? If so, then yeah, that's how it should be done.
