Who gives out your info to these annoying people from the "Warranty Department" ?

Is it the original dealer?
Main insurance company?
Financer?
State/DMV?

I must get 3 bullshite calls a day. I wish I had the number of the company that released my info so I could sign them up for a few adult sites.

Let me know when you find out. I'd like to invite them out to a camp deep in the woods.

Jindal's bitch arse probably sold the list to help fund police raises.

Have you guys been shopping for cars online? AutoTrader, Ebay, Cars.com, etc? I'm pretty sure that they can grab your info just by visiting their sites. I noticed an increase in these calls when I started car shopping online.

I highly recommend Truecaller for Android (and perhaps iPhone). It is a free caller ID service, and if it cannot give you a name for a call, it will often tell you how many people have reported it as a spam number, so you can block the number going forward.

Nope. Straight from dealership. I assumed it was either based on my registration from DMV or collected from financing application.

I've seen an uptick in calls this past week or two as well. About three or four a day. Usually car warranties or surveys. Maybe the do-not-call listing has expired.

Honestly I do not think it is related to actually owning a car. My buddy gets the calls and he has never had a car in his name. Next time ask them what kind of car you have. They will hang up real quick.

They're calling everybody (probably) - same list as Rachel from Cardholder Services - and since it's illegal, there's nothing you can do to stop them.

Get a human on the phone and then ask a bunch of questions. Tell them you sold a vehicle after bullshiting them for 10 minutes. They really like that.

It shouldn't be the dealer or financer bc I drove off the lot w/ a brand new car right before Christmas and still had the original warranty as well as negotiated the extended warranty into the sale price.

I think it's just the latest scam or phishing attempt. Similar to when everyone was getting the calls that their computers had a virus a few years back.

I have been blocking numbers since I realized that was a feature w/ the iphone. They always call from a different number, so I figured they gave up on me or they received a new lot of numbers to scam.

I began to notice they had a rotation of numbers they called from. They would cycle through every 10 - 14 days and start over with a number out of Irving, TX. My calls have stopped since I started blocking.
