If an elite college had a graduation rate that low, no one would blink an eye.

This was actually one of my problems recently. However, dealing with course scheduling is better than dealing with inflated difficulty curves (in my opinion)

I can't disagree more, the low graduation is a huge indication of the quality students and program that SU has. For a comparison, Harvard's 4-year graduation rate is 86%; a stark contrast to SU.

Attacking someone's informal sentence structure does not make you more intelligent.

I am proud to attend Southern University AM

Once I earn my degree, I will be sure to attach a photo of my degree in an email to you. I need your address of course.

It's almost impossible to fail at an Ivy League school once you're accepted, or so I've heard.

All elite schools are going to have better support systems, better students, and a reputation to protect. So yes, they're going to make it hard to fail.

For more comparison, UC - Berkeley and Michigan both have 76% 4-year graduation rates, they are both state schools.

I may be wrong, but I believe it's because attrition rates reflect negatively on universities in rankings.

I would be inclined to think so. All of the schools in that top tier are doing whatever is necessary to bring up their rankings. Being consistently ranked that highly is a huge marketing asset, which then brings in more money.

Of course, I agree it's silly to ignore the quality of student they enroll and support systems they have for growth and development.

Louisiana public colleges (4-year)

Stats within link. LSU is the highest, with Southern keeping Grambling and LSU Alexandria company at the bottom

1. Its not an elite college by any means. Its average ACT score is ~17. That is better than GSU or SUNO but far from making it be elite. LINK
2. Elite colleges have very good graduation rates. Columbia's is 90% and most of the elite schools is >75%. LINK LINK
3. Southern and most of the HBCUs are a waste of taxpayer money and student's tuition money and should have been closed decades ago. However that would be racist but wasting tax money on students who should not be in a 4 year college (yes if you have a 14 on the ACT you should not be in a 4 year college )and giving minority students degrees that they can't use to get a job or get a job to pay back their loans is not racist.
quote:

42 percent of the 116 colleges and universities with a default rate of 10 percent or higher are HBCUs.
HBCUs have the highest student loan default rate among all public colleges in 19 states. (There are only 21 states with HBCUs.)
Eight of the top 10 colleges and universities around the country with the highest student loan default rates are HBCUs.
