Complete silence for September or get tossed. Too much harassing of refs

GREENVILLE, S.C. —
Officials say parents heckling referees and behaving badly on the sidelines of youth soccer games has led them to take the unprecedented step of requiring spectators to be silent.

They shouldn't let their kids play soccer in the first place.

Only the (bad) parents are to blame.

So many embarrassing youth sports parents out there.

So many losers with nothing going on in their lives trying to live vicariously through their unathletic children.

And see, I didn't think soccer could possibly get more pussified, and now this.

I only yell at my own son. I'm probably too hard on him, but oh well. Someone has to be the best player on the field...may as well be him.

Maybe a little extreme, but I appreciate the effort.

There is a big shortage of referees in our state. The main reason is abuse from the parents and coaches.

It's the same in just about every state.

You're actually hindering his development by doing that, just fyi.

Oh man I have seen it. Guys who play college soccer, coach high school teams and referee get dog cussed by parents who have never even watched soccer. It's embarrassing.

You can always tell it's going to be a shite show when the opposing parents don't know where to sit on the sidelines.

As we play better tournaments the parents get better as well.

Americans aren't meant to play soccer, for all these reasons and more.

IDK, I only get on him about effort, don't care if he fricks up. Sometimes they just start out slow. This year he will be full time center mid so he has to get arse in gear from the start. He's changed teams to one with a bit tougher coach, so I'll probably keep my mouth shut this go 'round.

Game doesn't come to you in that position, you go to the game. He's had his first real break (for a couple of years...in that time though he's gone from Rec to the best team around), the last couple of months, and he's not asking to kick as much as before...so maybe you're right. IDK, we play tennis in the street now since he's going back for his second week of tennis camp next week. Will do two more weeks of sailing camp before they start back as well.

He does have a 3v3 tournament this weekend, but that's just a random thing.

I wish my league would take a tougher stance against parents and coaches. Or at least put some effort into policing them.
