If I hope it's not true and am right, that means an innocent guy's reputation has been tarnished for life.

That could be true and did happen to a friend of mine but they came back with this second charge with the US Marshalls involved it seems they may have something more than that. To arrest him a second time on a much more serious charge doesn't bode well for that defense.

Yeah it is. It's a tough law bc it's automatic life and the cases are often swearing matches with no physical evidence.
