This is just a small sampling. The US has by far the weakest drunk driving laws in the developed world and possibly the weakest anywhere.

Those other countries don't know how to drive like we do.

Yeah right. They sure don't seem to enforce shite then. Maybe that is just a limit to allow the cops some leverage to get a bribe out of you.

This seems reasonable.

This isn't the law here, but people can get pulled over for the most random reasons.

There are two solutions I think to stop drunk driving.

Either
1) Lower limit to .04/.05, and people won't drive after drinking more than a drink.
2) Leave it at ~.08 but make the rules much more strict. Fines, suspensions, probation.

Most people don't just get 1 DUI. You read the reveille and students are getting their 2,3, or 4th....

I don't really care one way or the other on changing the current laws. It could help, it could make it worse.

FYI, if you have a BAC 0.06% or higher in Brazil, you get 6 months minimum in prison. Maximum 3 years. First offense.

statutory limits can be misleading. China has child labor laws after all. What are the enforcement rates, typical sentences?

Alcohol should be banned everywhere. We should be getting high instead of getting drunk

This.

MADD sucks, but self-driving Google cars will surely save the day.

First Louisiana DWI 1st DUI Conviction

Louisiana DWI laws. I got one and didn't have any of the above happen to me. Just because they say there's a minimum penalty doesn't mean it really applies.
