I would never wear my great grandpa's naval uniform from WWII. I don't give a frick what y'all think. I know this kids grandpa probably didn't do anything too important but we didn't hear what's a part of that uniform. Some medals, doodads, etc are sacred and if it's some shite that's important I wouldn't want some kid walking in it.

As a former soldier, I don't see anything wrong with it, especially since it was his grandfather's.

Wear it without the name tag.

Signed, a veteran (me)

Do it.

And if people are really convinced you could take him to go eat at Denny's or something and try for the military discount.

It's fine, but you'll be shouted by a few on here, regardless of what you post.

Wearing one with full rank on Halloween isn't stolen valor, candies aren't being given bc someone thought you served.

Yeah I'm sure no veteran would want anyone wearing their doodads and shite.

And why would you think whatever grandpa did wasn't "too important?"

And I'll go one more. My father had several bullet holes in him from the South Pacific in WWII and my older brother wore his uniform for Halloween many years ago and everyone was happy he paid his respects.

Yes, it's absolutely just fine. Let him wear it with pride and love of his G'paw!

I'm retired military and I approved this post.

Most people treat it like it actually is though.

I'm torn. Wearing the uniform of our nation is a privilege. No matter your son's intentions, I do not believe he has earned that.

On the other hand, I'm a veteran myself and have considered wearing a replica of Willard's uniform from Apocalypse Now. I'm wondering what your old man would think of the plan and am uncertain how he would react. We tend to dote on our grandchildren more than we did our children.

At the end of the analysis I break towards the camp of "don't do it." The uniform is not a costume. Therefore, it's wear for Halloween is inappropriate IMHO.

My dad doesn't care. He laughed when he saw it again. Because the uniform is small he said it just proves he was skinny at one time.

What a douche. He's not wearing some random guy's ribbons. They were his grandfather's. Doubt his grandfather thinks of him as a "snot nose 12 year old".

Get fricked loser. I bet you yell at kids to get off your lawn.

what's wrong with telling someone to get off your lawn? ...

don't think anyone will accuse a 12 yo of 'stealing' a soldier's identity ... or find it disrespectful ... might want to coach him on what to say if someone acts a bit perturbed or makes a questioning comment ...

Is it the old Army Green uniform? Considering it hasn't been worn in quite a few years, no problem....

Hell, most people probably wouldn't know what it was, like your father, I wish I could fit into my old Class A's
