I agree, this is just scratching the surface.

I’d they are not stopped, we are talking a complete & purposeful collapse of the $USD, the Great Depression will look promising compared to what’s coming.

It is indeed. Top of the line seat. Even has the little extra seat you can put down for the kids

They mark the price up on the To-go queso!

queso in general is the most ridiculously marked up item i can think of in eating out.

i love it, don't get me wrong, but most places will throw out $8 for heated up cheese with pico in it. $12 if you want to make it 20% larger and call it medium.

It has to be very scary for retired people on a fixed income.

Anyone looking to retire soon better consider a holding pattern.

$100 filets, $75 dollar chicken entrees, $25 dollar shrimp cocktails, etc is fricking insane.

Freaking scary and depressing. Never thought we’d see the USA become this. Evil is truly running this country.

At this rate we may eventually find out just how many eating joints are actually needed in a given part of town. Talk about an overly saturated market. But hey, they're all packed when I drive by, so we're still good right now I guess.

A while back I stood in the parking lot of a restaurant on a stretch of road that ten to twelve years ago was cotton fields. I didn't move from the spot I was standing, just turned 360°, and counted 14 restaurants within sight. If I had climbed to the top of one of them I could have probably counted a dozen more. I don't see how they're all staying in business. I'd bet good money that ten years down the line, if I'm still kicking, I can return to that spot and count empty buildings. Or, maybe then I will be counting mattress stores and pay day loan joints.

I picked up a flap steak at Costco for some fajitas and took a glance at the price, 53$!! I didn’t even bother looking at the $/lb but that’s over double what I expected. Tossed that sucker right back.

They are all just taking advantage of consumers
Is that not how economics works?

A corporation has a responsibility to maximize shareholder wealth. If pricing your dog food and toiletries really high doesn't reduce sales enough to reduce revenues/profits, then people are still buying it, so there's no justification for them to charge the cheaper price.

I'd love cheaper prices across the board too. But if we're paying extra for these items, then corporations will obviously continue to raise prices.

There are legitimate market forces at work too that the government has no control over.

Did these market forces just suddenly appear once Biden took office?

Corporations are pricing you into voting for their interests. As soon as they break you into voting for the corporatists, and continue to get their way, they will lower prices by about 6%. And then they will get you on the backend with us holding the debt of the nation. It's a very easy thing to see.

I like how Dems now defend corporate and big business. Something they use to fight about. You see it from the white liberals on here and also see it on FB. It's like everyone in the country is struggling with high prices except white democrats, somehow it's all good, only with them. Trump made them go pro-war, pro big money, and anti-free speech, pro gov't control, pretty amazing chain of events last few years, from where they use to be.

You paid for it, so there's not much argument for a corporation not to price it at that pricepoint if you and others are willing to pay for it at that price.

Do you really think Biden invented inflation? A good portion of it is the massive COVID spending coming home to roost. Another part is, ironic given the name, the Inflation Reduction Act. The last part is the increase in capital costs which can be partially blamed on our current industrial build-out and partially on the retiring Boomers taking their money out of the market.

Get used to it, prices will never go back down.
It's up to us, we can force them to bring prices back down.

But complaining on a message board it's not how it'll get done, and people will mostly only complain then, as we see in this thread, still go out to dinner and still pay for that dog food, so no, corporations won't bring prices back down as long as we keep paying for it.

I was younger and experienced the oil shocks of the 70's, this may be MUCH worse before it gets better.
