I feel like that documentary shows him being a huge a-hole. Or maybe I heard that somewhere else.

So you're not sure if you saw the documentary to feel that way or if you heard about it second hand?

As far as

LSU fans suck his dick...
He's only arguably the greatest athlete to come out of LSU. Rattle off a list of fan bases that revere their "could have beens", or second rates, rather than those at the top, and then MAYBE you'd have a reason to post this thread.

You mean best college player ever. Top 50 in the pros. Name another player who was a top 10 shooter, passer, and ball handler. He was ahead of his time. One of a few players that would have been better in today's game than his own era.

Dale Brown had all of his college shots charted. If there had been a three point line, he would have averaged 60+ points per game.

No. He only averaged 44 points as it was. That would mean that he would need at least 16 of his made shots per game to be behind the 3 point line. Take away his 10 or so points per game he made from free throws, and that would mean that ~90% of his makes were from further than 20 feet. So no.

Exactly. Pete averaged 44. Say he averaged 10 ppg from FT. That means 34 from the field or 17 made from the field. Even if all 17 of those shots were 3 pointers that would put him at 61.

Brown didn't chart every game. He charted one and said Pete would have scored 60+ if there was a 3 pt line

Pete was 6'-5 and had better ball skills than most who play the game today

The thinking is that knowing there was a 3 point line, he could have sat back and popped 3's all day. He was shooting from down-town without any benefit of a 3. With his ball handling and passing, the defense would have to pick their poison. 60 seems high, but 50 would be reasonable.

No he played with short white kids. Couldnt run the floor and use that part of his game as much as he would in today's game. There's a few pages in his book that discuss when he played with Dr J for a few games. (J almost signed with the Hawks), they would have been unstoppable. In today's game,Pistol would be a taller John Stockton that could create his own shots. More like Magic.

Right. Because Stockton has played in the last decade. And his game was totally comparable to Maravich.

He didn't win championships but he was far from "forgettable". I watched him drop 69 on the Knicks in the Dome one night. He was a scorer.

You are truly a stupid frick. He's perhaps the greatest college player (scorer) of all-time and was named to the NBA's 50. Yeah, only LSU fans know who he is
