North Omaha is where the real mean streets are

There isn't a city in Nebraska

Omaha is actually a decent sized city. The metro area is probably only slightly smaller than NOLA. There isn't much outside of Lincoln and Omaha but it's a nice, clean state. I'd take their amount of cultcha over South Louisiana's all day.

Ah, simplistic analysis.

and living near a big city affords as many opportunities for doing what you want as living in it.

Yea Omaha has like 500k and Lincoln has 200k. That's pretty big. Then Grand Island is big as well at 50k

Not everyone likes big mega cities like Chicago or Houston. I fall in that category. I have to live near a decent sized city due my career (and the wife's - no pics) but I honestly prefer mid sized cities around the size of Chattanooga, Huntsville or Asheville. Basically I like the conveniences like restaurants, stores and parks without all of the damn people. I'm also early 40s, married and have kids. I felt differently in my 20s.

I grew up in a big city ~5m, I've lived in three mid-sized cities ~1-1.5m, and one small city ~500k. My ideal is the mid-size ~1.5m. They have great work, health and entertainment opportunities, but they are still small enough to be accessible.

Do you mean the metro? Because there's only 5 or 6 cities in the entire country with over 1.5MM in the city proper so you can't really call them mid-sized.

Not me brother. I'd like to live in a 100-200 k city while I'm working. Maybe 500k max.

I was thinking the same thing. I think NYC is the only US city with 5 million people.

You're right, just looked it up. LA is second with just under 4.
