Just stop

You haven't experienced what people on this board label 'cultcha' although your post history says you love the word

I've been to Omaha and seen some of the hoods there.

It's pretty shitty. He's right. It sucks up there.

yup. You go to North O just north of where the College WS is held and it gets real bad real fast. The general area around the airport is pretty bad. Hell just look at a google streets view.

Same with Lincoln south of the capitol building and north of South street.

It's not the publics responsibility to address people's wages and/or lifestyle.

Didn't Lincoln get a number of Sudanese refugees who weren't exactly...accepted by the local culcha?

Yup. Add Somolian as well. They can't drive worth a shite and don't work either. They'll usually cram 13 in a Chevy Astro

Used to do a lot of work in Lincoln and Omaha. I like Nebraska, great people and a very underrated state. Decent amount of OT 5+ talent running around. Did some work in N Omaha also. Fairly cultcha'd but dude it doesn't compare to Nola or BR. Not even in the same ballpark. Not even the same sport.

Without reading the article, I suppose rural areas have been hit by loss of manufacturing and agriculture being the province of big corporations? I don't think its any surprise that rural areas are poorer.

But if poverty causes all the crime, why are inner cities so much more dangerous?

Crime wasn't mentioned as one of the socioeconomic factors that have been negatively affected by the 'downturn' in rural America.

Rural America Is the New ‘Inner City’

If the birth/deaths rates are the same then the population is stagnant; however, if more people are dying then there are two significant possibilities:

-either people in rural areas quit fricking (unlikely), or
-people born elsewhere moved into the rural area, lived their lives, and then died there (this has my vote).

The latter would indicate that the population is moving to the rural locations because it is preferable to the inner city, which is the exact opposite of what the headline insinuates.

I know, that's my point. It's constantly argued that poverty is the cause of inner city crime. So where's all the rural crime?
