So, in my absence y'all seem to have adopted this new word, "baw"... explain?

Where did this shite come from? Just to be honest, it sounds stupid as hell but to each their own I guess. I get that its supposed to be saying "boy" in some weird hillbilly dialect. Mainly I'm just curious as to where it started.

It is stupid, and incredibly played out.
Just like "germans", some people see something on a message board, think it's the cool thing to do and want to earn cool points by using it (hey, if I use this phrase, maybe they'll like me!), and at that point it's saturated the entire place and it won't go away.
It's painfully unfunny and, at this point, unoriginal.

I'm 43. My cousin and I occasionally call each other this and laugh. We've been doing it since we were 12-14?
