I like your way of thinking....but I will only have 4 days now. And ice been looking so forward to this trip. Getting away from my kids and 15 year anniversary. I was to the point, I needed a Snickers bar. I needed away from every day life

Update....
They wouldn't give me any money back or voucher. Now I'm at miami and have a 3 hour delay. Won't fly American again

I always go to the customer service counter for that airline instead of the gate agent. In my experience gate agents are always giant cockbags, while the customer service counter works with you more. On my non-weather delays (greater than 3-4 hours), I usually get a $400 flight voucher and some sort of food voucher for the airport.

You must have been in a rush for a plane crash. These things happen and they will, likely, take care of you.
Also, the importance and distance of a travel seems to be directly proportional to the need to schedule a full travel day ahead of the the event. Weather, maintenance and other shite happens and Murphy's law comes into play.

Not outside reason since the delay is not what a normal person would consider significant impact.

If it was a maintenance issue, American should give you 100% refund with no problem if you find an earlier flight through a different airline.

If your plane wasn't supposed to leave until 9 am you were wasting most of your day traveling already so don't say the whole day is wasted.
