Since the OP didn't give much info, this was an old comic about a tank commander in WWII who received advice from/saw visions of the ghost of his ancestor confederate general Jeb Stuart. They flew the CSA battle flag from the tank.

I read some issues as a kid and liked it.

Tank commander in WWII was guided by the ghost of his namesake, Jeb Stuart. Rebel flag attached to antennae. Even had a black crew member.

i read these religiously.

i remember when they started out in a stuart tank and then Jeb (the ghost) was pissed off when the tank was destroyed and they switched to a Sherman tank and wouldn't help them out for awhile.

just your 1970s comic book geek checking in.

There was one where the ghost fought the ghost of Alaric while Jeb fought the Nazi descendant of Alaric.
