If one person reeled that in without passing the rod off, I am impressed. We almost had a large electric reel burn up because of one of those things. It was taking out drag from it when that isn't supposed to happen.

Meh, just an eel

Eels are just creepy. I was about 15 feet away from a normal sized eel and was pretty nervous taking pictures of it while snorkeling. I can't imagine coming up on this monster while swimming. Has to be 5 times the size of an average eel.

ETA: apparently my impression of an average sized eel, from aquariums and snorkeling shallow water, is very different from the impression of an average sized eel by deep sea fishers. I don't care that shite's still scary.

I caught a tiny little eel of of a pier on Ono Island when I was a kid. It was an eel about 2 1/2 feet and black the size of a chicken snake or something. I thought I had hooked the pier. I think that sonofabitch was wrapped the pier and holding on. I can't even imagine what that bastard would do.
