I usually send pics or vids, believing they cant use it against me in the future. However...they could still take screenshots

I like using it because, I can send the same pic/vid to a bunch of people and they wont get that weird sms/mms spam.

Doesn't it make you keep fingers on the screen so you can't screenshot?

I believe it tells the sender if the recipient screenshots.

I'm sitting on about 700 in about a year and a half... My ex has about 18K.

I mean, it's funny sometimes, but for the most part it's just dumb. I'd rather communicate like an adult.

since you can't save the pics.

You can take screen shots.

Put your right thumb on the screen, your right pointer finger on the top button then your left thumb on the home button.

If someone takes a screen shot in notifies the person who sent the picture.

Do you just add them and they send you pics or is there a secret to getting on their list of receivers?

What age group is using Snapchat regularly? This wasn't around when I was in college and curious who is using it and really for what. Is this just an app to send nudes or do people actually use it to share normal pictures?

So there are "levels" of sharing. Great picture of you and a celebrity/your hot girlfriend/you doing something awesome? Maybe that goes on facebook. Something a little less cool? Maybe something funny that happened? Instagram, possibly Twitter.

Something that's probably dumb, and for one reason or another you don't want on FB/Instagram/whatever? Snapchat. It's the lowest form of sharing.

Of course, old people don't understand social media etiquette/rules (and plenty of young people don't either, but nobody should be surprised to hear that socially awkward people exist). Snapchat is just another, lower level of sharing.

ETA: For the "why not just text it" questions, texting involves its own, separate etiquette. You can snapchat people that you wouldn't normally text. You can draw on snaps, add text, etc. It's just different. When you're not a young person surrounded by friends 24/7 doing this kind of stuff, it's probably difficult to see what the point is - I get that.

It notifies the sender if someone took a screenshot. My group of friends has one creeper that saves most of our pics. We give him hell about it, but make sure we only send him the ones that won't get us into trouble later...

I'm 35 and try to keep up with social media trends...

Snapchat, to me, is completely ridiculous. Like plenty people have said. Just send a text
