Well that would kind of defeat the purpose of the sleep study wouldn't it

No, it wouldn't. Giving a sleep aid is perfectly fine. In fact, the tech monitoring me lamented the fact they could no longer give them -- not even something as minor as a valium or even a Tylenol PM.

Apparently, I could bring in anything I wanted, but they could not give me anything due to liability. Guess someone on Ambien tried to leave in the middle of the night and got in a wreck or something.

I have very severe sleep apnea, I stop breathing 110 times every hour, had all the surgery's you can have for it, at the end was told they can't do anymore for me and if I didn't find a way to get more sleep my life expectancy was 6 years. fun times.

Damn.

I thought I had it bad at 45 times an hour.

I hope you can find some way to treat it. Best of luck.

That's about where I was during my sleep study. My O2 levels were somewhere in the 70s and after they hooked me up to the CPAP I went back up into the 90s. I had zero surgeries and use CPAP now and I feel much better.

CPAP won't work for you?

If you stop breathing 5+ times an hour, you have sleep apnea. The reason they make people sleep on their backs, is to the the absolute worse case scenario. UPPP, adenoid and tonsil removal is not near as effective as CPAP. The effects on the heart is scary. Reggie White died due to issues associated with his sleep apnea.
