Unfortunately I passed, I was hoping to get a CPaP to help with my snoring.

if so, wouldn't losing weight be more ideal than surgery?

I'm 6'2 and 215-220 lbs.

Not svelte but not overweight.

Man that's unfortunate. When I did mine, I was able to finally fall asleep. When they woke me up and put a CPAP on me and monitored my sleep, I woke the next morning and the feeling was unbelievable. I finally got what felt like a 12 hr slumber! And it was only for a few hours. I realized why I felt like shite all the time - because I wasn't getting any rest. Using a CPAP to sleep was a game changer.

Surprisingly enough, I am according to the charts. Hmm. Although I wouldn't consider a 6'2, 148-lb normal in any way. That's anorexic.

it's not anorexic.

Contrary to fat logic, it's possible to just simply be thin

I had one done about 2 months ago, my doctor told me to bring 3 beers to drink while I was there. Should have brought a 5th of whiskey cause I still didn't sleep. Oh well the CPAP has been wonderful though! Good luck with your sleep apnea.

Why are you going the surgery route? It's rarely effective. Cpap is the best

And yeah I don't see how they get a good measure of your sleep when you can't

I had a home sleep study done for 2 nights so it wasn't bad at all. I went form waking 18 times a night to under 3 with cpap. Im not a fatty and I am in pretty good shape for may age 6' 185. My problems started after sinus surgery several years ago that made me snore like a freight train. So the point is look into a home sleep study.

Ugh. I was actually thinking about getting a sinus surgery to avoid taking all my meds. It made you have sleep apnea?

It made me snore like a mfer. When I went back to the ENT Doc that did my surgery and told him he laughed and said that was my wifes problem. Anyway I breathe great now and no sinus infections since but I do use a CPAP now also.

Huh? They gave me a lunesta when I did my sleep study. I actually slept quite well. It's good you are getting a sleep study though. It sounds like you have issues.

I slept like a fricking rock... but I can sleep just about anywhere. Did mine about 2 years ago because I was always tired and found out that I quit breathing over 100 times in 1 hour.

Sleep apnea is apparently a huge issue with former submariners. I guess being exposed to prolonged periods of low oxygen/high CO2 atmospheres tends to frick with you after a while.

Yes I do. The guy monitoring my sleep study woke me up about an hour and a half into it and hooked me up to a CPAP. Then they set me up with one and I've been using it since. I know something is working because I'm not tired all day anymore. I'm actually getting decent sleep now.

Possible the worst night's sleep ever. When did hospitals lose the ability to give patients drugs?

Well that would kind of defeat the purpose of the sleep study wouldn't it

I had some hot young chick wire me up, feeling me up and down with her warm, sensuous hands. I almost asked her to sleep with me.

But in all other respects, that night sucked.
