oh for christs sake, i just had to leave the thread immediately. i got that woah feeling, i'm scared of shite of heights.

It started about 10 years ago, i had these dreams of me falling from a building during events. And waking up in a panic as i was about to hit the ground.

Now i can't even look at tv when they look down from a tall building or i get the woah feeling. fricked up.

I used to be able to go on the higher buildings and look down and have no fears or uneasiness.

Also built before modern lawsuits and OSHA regulations.

It would take a lifetime to build things like the TVA dams on the TN River instead of a few years, assuming you could even get them past the point of environmental studies, in this day and age.

It seriously amazes me how cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco were built before modern technology/construction. Unreal

It's pretty easy, if you don't care how many workers die.

Good thing they are wearing those helmets in case they fall off.

They would be fine if they did because they have helmets

This is true. Even though the harness will stop a fall to the ground the helmet is still helpful to protect a hit against the building during the fall.

This is true in rock climbing as well. And it protects from falling rock.

The straps holding them aren't even long enough for their head to hit the edge they are standing on so I don't think that is an issue

I did the acrylic cages in what used to be the Sears Tower in Chicago.

It was pretty cool, until I felt it shaking all of a sudden.

I kid you not this entire family of morbidly obese people stepped onto it, and I thought the whole thing would collapse. I promise you the lightest one of the four was still north of 300 pounds. Perhaps they're just used to the ground swaying beneath them.

I've never been afraid of heights, but I feel like certain biological instincts might override my brain and give me a heart attack while I'm calmly observing the Earth below.

I guess it is time to post this again, there are probably some who have not seen it. With the exception of the videos of stupid Russian kids climbing things, this has the highest pucker factor of any video I have seen so far.

LINK

For those that haven't noticed, they are free climbing, no attachment to the tower.

Would suck to forget your screwdriver at the truck.

This is probably my favorite urban climbing video.

I don't see the big deal.

They have harnesses and are not terribly close to the edge unless they want to be.
