Where's the best place in New Orleans or Baton Rouge to get fitted for/purchase snow skiing boots?

It appears the Backpacker in BR and Masseys in NOLA do not offer this service anymore. Anybody know of any other places?

I’ve bought ski boots several times through the years, but always at a ski resort. They’re not going to be cheap, but the good shops know boots so well and will custom mold the boot to your foot and tweak them every day as many times as needed while you’re skiing. They’ll heat mold, pad, etc., wherever you need more give, more support, etc.

In my opinion, skiing on them and having adjustments made across a few ski days is the best way.

Skiing isn’t cheap, so make sure your boots are right. They’re the most important gear you can get.

People complain about bootfitters all over Colorado so I doubt someone who is good at it works in LA. I’ve heard of two places on the front range (1 in Golden and 1 in Boulder) that Have a stellar reputation. Even Surefoot is supposedly hit or miss.

Nowhere in LA does any ski stuff. Have to get my tuneups when I actually go skiing

Is there some business that offers "One-Stop-Boot-Shopping" for the active outdoorsman who is avid about snow-skiing and alpine-mountain climbing?

Rental gear is so good these days I’d rent at the ski shops at the slopes

No places. It sucks. Once you get fitted though, and have a general understanding of what works with your feet, it is easier to order sight unseen for future orders.

Get fitted on vacation, and if you need future help, just go to a bootfitter to get what you need punched out or fixed.

The skis are fine but fitting boots is an art

Ive actually been thinking about this for my wife. I am fine renting but she gets shin bangs so bad she doesn't want to go back. So i was hoping to persuade her by telling her i'd get her properly fitted and just buy her a pair.

Seems like a lot of attractive women hanging out in front of the boot store.

Uhg. NFW. Having your own ski boots is essential. And it's my own funk in them.

To the OP... just get it done at the resort. I've done it a bunch of times and mostly they've done a great job.

not these days, unless you're skiing at some podunk place in the east, and unless you've got some sort of foot issue, been skiing for decades, still considered an expert skier, haven't bought my own gear for years, technology increases so fast and the nicer ski resorts stock pretty decent gear, plus I don't have to lug that shite all over the country taking it with me, would be shocked if we have many posters on here that ski at a level to where it would make a difference

Fact

If you are going to go down the "I must have my own boot road" then you'll have to suck it up and go to a place like Gorsuch and look for the old grizzled types working the boot section. Yeah its going to cost a fortune but they will take care of you. also do it mid day. So your ankles arent totally fresh but not totally swollen from the whole day either.

Im a Dalbello man myself. Their cabrio system is exquisite.

I went into a Gorsuch shop in Vail and almost passed out after seeing the price of their clothes. The only thing I could afford was a coffee mug

Give me a ballpark at what a fortune is.
