I have not eaten any kind of seafood since that day. Not even catfish.
Your decision to drink a case of beer a day instead was definitely safer

Two days I've watched you post hoping for something, anything that requires thought,
Are you saying that posting in your threads requires no thought?
Did you maybe want to rephrase that?

You started a thread with bullshite hyperbole and then got your panties in a wad when people called you out on it. Don't be such a pussy next time.

What is hyperbole about my post? Pics and article? and when did I get upset?

One of my good friend's dad lost his life that day. Hope he's riding his Harley through the hills of heaven. RIP Mr. Manuel

I still remember how they tried to say how few barrels were spilling every day, only for the number to climb and climb until it was all of "millions of barrels a day"
And then you went on to say that posters were making light of the situation because they called you out on your bullshite numbers.
As others have said, when people like yourself just make shite up it detracts from the severity of the actual situation.

Since 2010, more than 1,400 dolphins have been found dead on the Northern Gulf of Mexico
Articles like this love to throw out numbers like that for shock value. How many dolphins normally die in the northern gulf over a span of 6 years, 1399?

That's not hyperbole, that's just me being wrong

My statement "making light of the situation" had nothing to do with the wrongness of my numbers. Several people were making light, which doesn't sit well with me for this matter.
I made nothing up. The pettiness of this board is outstanding

To me, this is the forgotten part of it all. We all focus so much on the wildlife and oil aspect, but forget the victims on the rig itself. RIP , do some wheelies through the gate

Can you quote someone in this thread making light of what happened?

loss. I go through Lake Mechant and Sister lake to get to the gulf and there are islands gone from those lakes. The cut at the gulf used to be maybe 40-50 yards wide and now its a few hundred yards wide.
Yeah, that is to be expected and perfectly normal for an area that hasn't had significant discharge for 2,000 years. If you fish between Morgan City and Venice you're basically screwed unless something changes. It may not disappear in our lifetime, but it will happen.

Those pictures are hard to wrap my head around. Tell me if i'm wrong, the land was building south of the delta and now it's dissipating? Pretty wild

this study doesn't give a specific number, but approximately 50% of the dead dolphins show signs of stress common after exposure to high petroleum compounds

sure some of the "facts" thrown about by environmental blogs are biased or hyperbole, but this most certainly affected the area and ocean life

I don't think anyone is saying that. I think they're just pointing out that throwing out numbers without context is sloppy at best and intentionally deceitful at worst.

What is scary to me is how they say the "middle life", or the coral reefs and stuff they can't actively monitor, has been impacted but they're not sure to what extent.

Well those are simulations and they're not going to go into precise detail on what was and wasn't marsh, so they just lump it all in as "green" land. That being said, the sediment that created that land is flowing into ever increasing depths instead of the continent shelf, hence the reason we're losing land faster than we can replace it those areas.
If you leave nature alone she'll fix herself, but that would be at a tremendous detriment to anything south of Baton Rouge on the Mississippi River.

I know this. Doesn't mean they weren't effected in some way. This thing was soooooo bad that we haven't even touched the surface of the damage it has caused. The damage don't to the fragile ego-system in the gulf is gonna be mind boggling. Just think about how much oil came from that well and into the water. Where did it all go????? There is still oil out there.

You do know thai is not the first MAJOR oil spill in the GOM? Right?
The effects of the first are un-noticable at this time.
Lighten up Francis and stick to posting opinions on things you know something about. Like picking losing teams in sporting events.
