Would you sit there in your seat while you could see that the WING WAS ON FIRE?! I'd like to think that anywhere in the US the plane would've been evacuated on the left (non-burning) side. Pop the slides and get the pax out within 90 seconds (that's the legal requirement with only half the total slides available).

Maybe the fire was intentional

I'd dare those people to try to keep me on the plane. It's not like the fuel is stored in the wing or anything

About to say, I wouldn't be waiting for the seatbelt sign to go off in this situation. Anyone that sits there because they are told to do so is a true sheep.

The video is shot vertically, but actually plays in full screen vertical on my phone.

They handled it just fine. The fire trucks were right on top of things and they probably didn't want passengers outside to get run over.

True story here. I fly IAH>Moscow>SG and 2-3 years ago the same thing happened on takeoff. I looked out and saw the engine was fricking red and told the stewardess and she got the captain to stop takeoff mid-way.

Took us back to the gate and rescheduled us for the next day. It was in the paper too. Scary shite. Amazing the instrumentation didn't alert them to it.

I'm sure it did but he was too full of vodka to pay attention to it.

No offense to the people dealing with the danger on board...

But that is a cool photo.

That's crazy. Probably horrifying for passengers since it happened mid-air.

Similar problem happened to me on a CRJ out of BTR in 2008. We started accelerate to takeoff, then halfway down the runway the right engine bursts into flames and the pilot jams the brakes. Before we came to a complete stop, the fire truck sprayed the whole plane with foam.
