Time for some nostalgia. I will start…

Being given some money and thinking you were rich.

When you were asleep in your car and your dad makes that final turn and you just knew you were home.

Not allowed to turn a light on inside the car at night.

Staring out the window on long car rides in the rain. Watching rain drops drip down the window and seeing which one wins the race all the way down.

Staring at the school clock wishing it was recess.

What the wooden stick, you used for ice cream, tastes like.

Thinking “I will remember this moment forever” and you are doing something that is really insignificant.

Being seven and playing cops and robbers with a gun-shaped stick without having to worry about being arrested by the police. I killed like 200 people and didn't catch a single charge.

Riding my bike in the summer and weekends from 8am to dark. We’d also setup neighborhood baseball games. Broke a few windows doing that….

ETA: I’m an 80s-90s kid

Taking practice swings on the porch and accidentally barreling up one of the hanging fern pots, then running away as fast as I possibly could like that was going to save me somehow. I had to go home eventually....usually at dark.

Knowing exactly when my last tetanus shot was and being basically invincible to rusty nails and old tin. Nowadays I'm doing hazy math and hoping for the best whenever I get jabbed by a piece of old wire.

We’d do this too. Ride our bikes off the driveway using rigged up ramps and jumping off the ledge. There was a lot blood

There's nothing safer than a couple pieces of old, salvaged plywood propped up on a few old car batteries and cinder blocks.

You’d also having one mama handing out pop-ice popsicles. It’s like they had a group me back then to coordinate who’s turn it was.

And don’t forget the bologna sandwiches for lunch.

Saturday morning cartoons

Birthday parties at places like Skate City, Don Carter's, Putt Putt Golf, Fun Fair Park, or McDonalds.

Cruising the mall

Thinking that you were staying hydrated drinking capri suns all day, or those sugar drinks in the little plastic barrels.

Price is Right on sick days

Great thread!
I’m pretty sure the ice cream truck song is the same everywhere in the world. If I heard it today, I’d probably start running home to get a quarter.

That was the greatness behind bikes. You’d easily catch up with him. Hell, he starting remembering your names and what you wanted.
