Shreveport is a great area to retire if you're looking for inexpensive, less crowded, outdoor activities, etc. Older folks aren't necessarily looking for a bustling downtown.

Probably because it's cheap, has good healthcare, it's warm, and it's nearby some lakes and other nature that make it a pleasant place to live for older folks. If I had to guess.
