Thinking about changing majors to business because I think I'd like to work in an office somewhere for decent pay, but I'd like to stay around Louisiana so I was wondering what kind of office jobs I could find in the south other than working at a bank or insurance.

Entry level? Cold calling for mid-level employees to tell you to GFY.
Only way i'd get a business degree is if I had a desire to start my own.

I can't think of many companies that don't have an office.

just general business? I dont know what your current major is, but probably not. I would do something a little more specific, like accounting, always jobs in accounting

If you're looking to profit while making no tangible or existential contribution to society, why not go to law school?

No. You may not start out with good pay, but there are plenty of companies that you can get your foot in the door with a business degree. What happens from there is up to you

I got into oil and gas using my business degree. Running title, leasing, permitting with state and local agencies, etc.
Anything to do with contracts and filing paperwork likes people with business degrees.

Just go with Accounting or Finance and buff it up with some Management Electives or something. I would not do a straight Business Admin or Management degree.
Start somewhere in Accounting, Operations or HR and work your way up from there.

I got into law school and the first thing my adviser told me:
"Every rich white kid that couldn't get into Med school now has a law degree."

How do we know if you should change if we don't know what your current major is?
You should probably switch to a vocational school TBH

I got a business degree.
Why would you want to work in an office though?
Don't limit yourself.
I work outside in a business role and love my job. Not sales.

Just do CM and you get 2 minors in business. Problem solved.

This!!! But, I would focus on Accounting, A LOT more opportunities with accounting (unless you want to sell/trade securities)

If you only have a Business Degree it is viewed as an equivalent to a general studies degree. Almost all employers want to see someone specialized in a field. Also, most larger companies have a keyword filter that may not pick up a Business Degree over Accounting, Finance, Marketing, HRT, Economics...

A very wise, wealthy person once told me not to get a generalized degree like "business", but to get a degree that enables you to provide a service that people HAVE to have and you'll always have a job.
