covid19 lockdowns are the most damaging mistake since WW1.

The word “mistake” suggest there was no ill-intent in the action. The overblowing and continuing to overblow this “pandemic” with absurd levels of hyperbole was/is knowing and deliberate

Abstract

In testimony before U.S. Congress on March 11, 2020, members of the House Oversight and Reform Committee were informed that estimated mortality for the novel coronavirus was ten- times higher than for seasonal influenza. Additional evidence, however, suggests the validity of this estimation could benefit from vetting for biases and miscalculations. The main objective of this article is to critically appraise the coronavirus mortality estimation presented to Congress. Informational texts from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are compared with coronavirus mortality calculations in Congressional testimony. Results of this critical appraisal reveal information bias and selection bias in coronavirus mortality overestimation, most likely caused by misclassifying an influenza infection fatality rate as a case fatality rate. Public health lessons learned for future infectious disease pandemics include: safeguarding against research biases that may underestimate or overestimate an associated risk of disease and mortality; reassessing the ethics of fear-based public health campaigns; and providing full public disclosure of adverse effects from severe mitigation measures to contain viral transmission
Again, reasonable doctors and research scientists disagree with each other all the time. Especially when it comes to new diseases we know little about.

Also again, this is just a comparison of various secondary data sources and media reports, not an actual scientific study.

Also again, state and local governments are typically full of dumbasses.

Also again, the US House didn't institute any lockdowns.

God it's amazing how some of yall take an article in your favor and turn it to 11 up to with stupid bullshite like this even if this article is correct Covid is still deadlier

Anyone that recognizes my posts know my opinion on COVID and it’s lethality and the shutdowns.

But this is exactly correct. 6% are covid only. The biggest co-morbidity? Respiratory failure.

Fauchi should have to answer this allegation publicly.

He should. But Trump won't let him.

ETA: This is the sign of a partisan schmuck who hasn't been paying attention for months.

Maybe I misunderstand. How is respiratory failure a comorbidity of a disease that causes respiratory failure?

I had twins this year. One of them passed after a week old and the other made it. They were both born at 23 weeks and 1 day old. We have been super safe with no one being around them except us and grandparents. We have been strict with even grandparents seeing our daughter and we realize it sucks but rather be safe than sorry.

Sorry for your loss, and I completely understand the caution.

I also think that it’s massively overblown, but we aren’t taking any chances with our newborn.

I filled out a staggering number of these in March and April. It was the worst 6 weeks of my career so far. Hopefully it stays that way.

Every single one of them I filled out more than one diagnosis, because nobody died of COVID alone. They died of respiratory failure (from COVID) and/or viral sepsis (from COVID).

Any death certificate filled out like the 6% that had just COVID were actually incorrectly/lazily filled out. Anyone who has filled one out before knows that.

Four people I know personally have died.

I have never known anyone personally to die from flu.

My experience.

The CDC itself reported only 6% of Covid deaths were legitimate

If a COVID death is coded to both COVID and respiratory failure, does that mean they didn’t die from COVID?

That was his point.

I think we botched the response to this virus, but anyone parroting this 6% talking point is suffering from a severe case of confirmation bias. Or they haven’t actually looked at the CDC data.
