Shipping a 1'x1'x12' package - Best method?

I have (2) items that I need to ship that are each 1'x1'x12' long, and weigh around 10 lbs each. Is there any good way to ship these without paying $300 freight costs?
Shipping would be from BR to New York

I've never had a one foot package so I don't know.

UPS usually requires anything over a certain dimension to be sent via freight
Will see if I can find the specifics...

At 12' it's going to have to go freight. You might want to try some of the slow and cheap guys like Saia or Yellow.

only if you want it damaged. Try a different LTL carrier.

Make sure whoever you choose actually services both areas. For example, southeastern will ship there but they just hand it off to another carrier when it gets out of there region. When that happens you'll always have delays and they can't really control much once they are no longer the carrier.

UPS/USPS/FEDEX are all workable for that.
I sent something Saturday afternoon 2 states away with USPS and it arrived this morning to the recipient.

1. go LTL
2. with that size, you may be getting penalized for shipping "air"
try increasing the weight, and therefore the density and see it drives the price down

Try old dominion or central freight. Most of the time i find that they can be cheaper.

I bought some fishing poles recently that were shipped to me in a PVC pipe. The shipper used Priority Mail from the Postal Service.

In all my experience in the Nola area R&L Carriers has the cheapest rates with the least amount of wait
But I was with a company that used them all the time so I'm sure we had some cheap rates
Just saw that you're shipping from BR to NY
good luck
