Shingle damage

We took some shingle damage last night and I’m curious what kinda of measures I should take to prevent any long term damage to my house. Obviously I need to get some tarps to put over the areas I lost shingles but should I get in my attic and remove all of the wet insulation? Thanks in advance

First things first. Take lots of photos and video before you remove anything.

I wouldn’t remove anything until you have tarps up. If it rains again the wet insulation will catch it before it falls to your drywall then your drywall will get destroyed.
But yes access the damage and tarp and remove anything wet and get fans going to dry it out ASAP.

Open your claim with insurance and upload videos and photos.
Tarp, remove whatever is needed. Insurance told us, whatever we needed to do to prevent further damage.

Take pictures
Put a tarp on.
Tarps hold much better by using a board to nail or drill the end down. It will probably be up there a while. If you don’t have the capability of doing this, it’s no big deal. The insurance will preteen pay for someone to properly tarp it until it can be repaired. I’ve even gotten a check from my insurance company for doing it early as a damage mitigation reward/incentive
Don’t forget to take pictures of the inside underneath the damage, too.
