Other than pure greed, is there an argument against splitting it with him?

You've never been to a casino? That's lame.

Give him 25%. Although the effort is minimal, you did the "work."And unless he directed you to that specific machine, you picked the one that paid, so most likely the free play would have been wasted if he used it. 265 would increase his play 10 fold.

Fwiw, I'd split it right down the middle, mostly because the feeling of doing so and his appreciation would be worth it. The above is just a justification for if you didn't want to. It's thin, though.

Don't be a greedy dipshit. You split it.

It's still $550 more than you had.

I'm not greedy, as I mentioned others in the car have different opinions on what to do. I planned on cutting him in just wondering how much?

No less than 25%, but half unless you really need it.

I'm surprised so many said split it.

If he wasn't gonna use it the guy doesn't expect anything. If you split it I'd say you are generous.

no way do i split it. maybe throw the guy a Benjamin. its not like if he would have been there then he would have been guaranteed to win the $1100 with his free play. you won regardless of who's money it was. if he was expecting any sort of return from a casino using his money he should have given you the card, tell you to put $25 on black and bring back the winnings

Yes, but he would not have played at all had the friend not given him $25 free play.
He stated he was just staying the night there and that's it.
Split it for a Clear mind and clear head.

And like I said had the friend not given him the money, he wouldn't have played, nor won. That argument goes exactly both ways. 50/50 split.

I'm actually surprised the majority of the responses have been to split, must be the Sunday morning crowd.

50/50 is the answer here. You have $550 more than you would have had he not given you the free play. You're still up and a winner here. Is it not enough? What would you do if you won a million? Not split that too?

This is the answer, IMO. Very bad karma on you if you give the guy less than half. If you real poor then you can get away with 25%.

Here's another idea. Ask him how much he wants. If he says all of it, call him a greedy Bastard and give him half. If he says you can keep it, give him half. If he says $100, give him $200 and so forth.

Its subjective, depends on how good of a co-worker/friend this person is. I would probably just say, I won $1100 on your money, so Iim buying tickets for you and I to LSU/Bama. But Let his greed determine how much he gets.

In that case, keep all the money and use it to pay for a night with his sister.
