Both temperatures are unreasonably high, and it makes more sense to have it higher during the day.

There’s a girl in my office that tries to change our thermostat to 75 during the day. frick all that. I turn it right back down to 68. We’re therapist, I know she owns a fricking cardigan.

At home we’re 68 during the day and 66 at night.

In the evening when everyone is home, the air gets turned down to 65. My mother is here visiting from Chattanooga and is currently wearing a winter coat inside and under a blanket.

A "recommendation" just means the ones in power don't have the ability to enforce it and make it punitive yet.

If they could get away with setting your thermostat, they would.

Don't you get it? These people are temporarily limited tyrants.

not a fricking chance.

This is the ultimate do as I say and not as I do.

I wanna see PROOF that every one in that agency abides by that for 365 days first. Then, well, frick them anyway. That ain't happening. They're lucky to get mine set above 72.

Might wanna buy a new ac… if I set mine to 66° at night, my kids would get hypothermia

Makes sense.
We need to do this to prevent rolling blackouts when our new countrymen/un-vetted invaders from the south come in and overwhelm the power grid, along with, schools, hospitals, housing, infrastructure, etc., Eta, Also global warming./

I’m pretty cold natured, so my thermostat stays on 75 during the summer. I think they’re being unreasonable with those numbers, especially as it applies to every woman I know.

If they could make it a law, they would.

What do you keep your ac on?

I like lots of blankets at night and the bedroom is upstairs on the backside of the house where we get the afternoon/early evening sun.

We just got a new HVAC three months ago, it works great.

They do this crap in Tokyo in office buildings. Misery. It's funny though, because I can set my hotel AC at 65 when I am there.

Are they factoring in the energy it would take to wash my fricking sheets every day due to the pool of sweat I'd wake up in?

The yearly thread of this dumb suggestion by the government

If I kept it at 82…. I’d be looking like a fat version of Ashley Judd in “ a time to kill”

in the south, that would result in humidity in the space above 60% and thus mold growth.........

In a properly sized and functional system those temp settings would prevent as much mold as 72 degrees. A modern AC system is supposed to be sized according to the volume of the space, ambient atmospheric conditions and the content, use and sources of losses in the space. If you have ever spent any time in a space with over sized systems you will know that humidity is a problem while temperatures are very low...its because the coil temp is not synced with the amount of airflow thus failing to remove the moisture required to "feel" comfortable...window units are notorious for being "cold and clammy" roof top RV units are the same for similar reasons...if your system is sized right lowere thermostat settings would have little to no impact on relative humidity because the correct amount of water will be removed at the right amount of air exchange at any but extreme settings which would prevent any or very little exchange...
