Are there any permits you have to have for this? Our group is a non profit, and most of the money will be going to MDA. Are there any rules against this?

probably somewhere, but get permission from the property owner and other than that just beg for forgiveness vs asking for permission

I'm assuming you need to ask Wal-Mart first.

It's not in a Walmart parking lot, but thanks for the input. Doing a good deed during the holidays shouldn't be looked at as trashy.

The rest will go to a toys drive for children.

Fair enough, as long as they are not your children

Most of the smaller places will let you use their parking lot if you buy your supplies/meat from them.

Are you joking? Kindness in general is trashy.

I don't know the specifics and it really depends on where you are doing this. Some areas might require you to get a temporary permit, if it will be done on a weekend then you probably will not have much of a problem, however; you can't just go to any parking lot and do this.

You have to consider that whoever owns the parking lot is responsible for anything that happens in the parking lot so holding a fundraiser on a parking lot without getting permission isn't the best idea.

Also, you say you are holding a fundraiser, selling food and that MOST of the money will go to MDA. What is the real motivation behind this? Its common for people to have some type of "fundraiser" for a specific cause , but they have another reason for the fundraiser.. And as long as they donate some of the money to that cause.... there are no questions asked.

It's the cool OT thing to do to post 'trashy' in every question thread.

It's basically the equivalent of posting 'first' on a YouTube video.

You should be ok as long as you don't sell alcohol. I assume you have permission from the property owner.

Working to raise money for a charity is trashy? what?

Trashy is the sports teams that stand in the middle of the damn highway with cans begging for money.

Our Bantam Football team did a plate lunch fundraiser in a bar room parking lot. Made $5000 for 5 hours work. No one got any kind of permit.

you would do better selling 20 piece stacks of firewood this time of year.
