Selfish Lazy Coworkers (rant)

Why is it so hard for people to go to work and do their job without complaining about every little thing. My approach to work is I do what I'm supposed to and get paid to do. A ton of coworkers are in a constant state of bitching now because they aren't getting their way.
The other day, a family member and I both had run ins with coworkers. I was called a pussy bitch and my family member was called a wuss because we wouldn't give our express consent for them to break the rules. It wasn't anything major but problems do arise from when they aren't followed sometimes. For my family member, all he said was "I won't give you permission but I won't stop you." And the man in his 60s blew up at him. I'm still pissed about hearing about that.

If they require your permission to break the rules, I'm assuming you are in a position to fire them?
