Knightscope, the company that leases out the robots as a security aid. They are completely autonomous, navigating like self-driving cars. They have high-definition infra-red cameras; microphones that allow the robot to either interact with people or listen for sounds such as breaking glass, and even detection systems that can intercept the pings of mobile phone devices, and license-plate reading software that can process 300 license plates every minute.

They used "graffiti resistant material" and I have no idea how that is possible, but if anyone can invent such a thing, it's people in the Bay area.

They are quite scary.

Just put a bump in the rug and the thing stalls. We looked at these for my company. They are pos. Go with flying drones. Easier to navigate the fairly stable environment of the sky.

They are no doubt very limited at the moment, but it's just a beginning. Eventually, the SV engineers will overcome every complaint you have one by one.

How will they address the complaint of having robots patrolling Silicon Valley?

$7/hour to operate, $50,000 to build, $15,000 to repair if it gets damaged....

Also, I think robot security/law enforcement would be horrible. You think cops now are bad? Just wait until not only do these things track everything you do, this information is stored somewhere....who gets to look at that information?
