Seattle named fastest growing city of both the year and decade. By growth rate, not raw numbers. It will be interesting to see what impact policies like the new head tax will have as well as Amazon's decision to open a second HQ.

Austin will be the better city long-term. They're liberal, but they are a very watered down version of liberal compared to what you see in Seattle. If they start going the Seattle route, they're fricked.

It'll be interesting to see those numbers in a few years if the head tax sticks around.

Tacoma, where I live, is offering a $275 tax credit per employee. Coincidentally the same number as Seattle's head tax.

The city is still blowing away the suburbs when it comes to growth. Last year, Seattle once again grew faster than surrounding King County

Interesting the city itself is growing fast, but not the suburbs. That’s what makes Seattle the fastest growing city.

Other cities like Nashville, DFW, Austin, Hou, etc. have suburbs exploding and outpacing the big city. Seattle area isn’t growing nearly as much as other areas.

Where is Columbus Ohio on that list? Can’t be far off. Columbus just had its biggest population gain over a year adding 15,429 residents. The 2010 census had Columbus at 787,000 and the newest census estimates have Columbus at 880,000 residents continuing its population boom.

True for some of the suburbs but the metro is ranked 2nd fastest growing in the US and Tacoma (not really a suburb) is the 10th fastest growing. LINK

I'm surprised with the insane cost of living there. You'd think Austin would do better just from having more room to expand.

surprised D is 2 and FW is 4

would have thought the spread between the 2 is wider but it is % not counts

seems like the Dallas metro is going to reach OK a lot sooner

That is only a mild exaggeration

Is it? A lot of cities in the South have been booming for a while.
