Because you know these OT ballers are just jumping in an out of the shower, late for class, late for work, late for an apt, and they didn't get completely clean. And sometimes toss that towel on the bed without really airing it out
And then doing the same again and again and again
If you reuse a towel more than once, you're a filthy, disgusting human. The purpose of your towel is like wiping down your car after a wash. To get everything you might have missed.

I don't understand this argument. Don't most people (I know I do) use a hand towel to dry hair and face and then the body towel for your body?

Obviously the OT knows better than a microbiologist. But I assume a wet towel can grow fungi or harbor germs, esp in a humid bathroom. I reuse my towel about 4 times myself.

I usually go a couple weeks with one, but I'm also a college student who doesn't do laundry often so I don't really have a choice

I'd say I average 3-4 uses out of a towel. Sometimes north of that.

I switch out a towel every 4-7 days depending on if they smell mildewy or not.
