$1 million to help fund the video scoreboard for the new football stadium. UNH is grateful for the money and is putting it to use on their highest priorities.

Robert Morin was a cataloger in Dimond Library for almost 50 years. A campus icon, everyone recognized him in Murkland courtyard smoking his pipe.

When he died last year, he left a generous $4 million gift

The rest of it didn't happen to be allocated to the Miles buyout fund, did it?

No, it was the south enclosure of Tiger Stadium built in the late 50s.

Librarians don't make that little. If he wasn't a big spender and started saving early, that is NBD honestly.

This is the type of shite that happens in idyllic places like NH.

People work in the library, or they freelance write, or they own a small town store...and they have a few million dollars.

Bet that dude wore LL Bean and tweed all day and fished when he wasn't slinging books.

Must have been a penny pincher and invested right from the beginning. It's crazy to think, but with the way the stock market has acted over the last 50 or 60 years, anyone who put into retirement savings from the beginning should probably have more than a few million in their accounts. Not adjusting for inflation, the S&P 500 index was at approximately 91 bucks in September of 1966. It's almost at 2200 today.

Problem is very very few people who started working 40+ years ago started saving for retirement at the beginning. shite, a lot of boomers didn't start saving until relatively recently. Dumb frickers.

if you keep your expenses low, its pretty achievable, even on a librarian salary. my mother was a librarian and I know she is a millionaire but not sure how much.
