You can't seriously NOT believe it. I've worked in over 100 cities in 27 countries. That means I've seen what it's like to "live" in those cities, not just play the role of a tourist. BR's traffic would be envied in most of those cities.

I firmly believe the people who bitch about BR traffic have never worked outside of Louisiana.

Why shouldn't he believe it? It's completely correct. I worked as a traffic engineer in BTR for a couple of years after college. We do have major infrastructure and connectivity issues (due to NIMBYs and white flight) that some other cities don't have, but you're fooling yourself if you don't think that other major cities don't have gridlock at 5:00pm. Certainly, you're not implying that the term "rush hour" is exclusive to BTR, are you?

Ever driven through Atlanta at rush hour? Houston? Austin? San Diego?

There's no disputing that. At least an hour to an hour and a half.

I'll dispute it. In fact, I'll bet you $1,000 you're wrong.

If I'm reading the chart which you linked correctly, it says a Friday rush hour commute that usually takes 30 minutes during normal times is extended by *gasp* less than 7 minutes on Friday afternoons.

Agree completely and I understand this is extremely difficult to deal with.

Certainly they do. But on every road in town?

Never driven through San Diego and its been years since ive been to Austin. Atlanta is bad, so is Houston, but they are also what, two of the largest metro areas in the country? I've also spent a good bit of time in DFW. Traffic is pretty bad there too, but there are ways to get from point to point in town.

There are no such luxuries in Baton Rouge.

First of all, nobody living in CCL goes to BRCC.

Secondly, the city keeps trying to get a loop, but the NIMBYs won't have it. As long as there's no alternate route, we'll forever have major issues.

Personally, I chose to live somewhere in the city that was a strategic route & distance from where I work, so I wouldn't have to fight gridlock everyday. If I chose to live somewhere that I knew would involve me fighting ungodly amounts of traffic every morning & evening, I certainly wouldn't have the right to bitch about it.

I hate traffic as much as anyone, but you're being a Drama Queen if you think BR traffic is measurably worse than any other U.S. city its size.

Even during the times you mentioned, I can drive from one side of the city to the other in 40 minutes
You can't bullshite a bullshitter. I used to live in Southdowns, and there is no way I could make it from Seigen to Acadian on Perkins in under an hour. Try to go from Acadian to P'ville? You're looking at an hour and a half. Perkins to the Interstate on college is almost a 30 minute ordeal. Been on Essen lately? I have been in a lot of cities around the US, and the only one that is close is Atlanta. Your statement is 100% untrue

quote:

It used to take me 1 hour just to get from the CBD in New Orleans to the Dolly Parton bridge during rush hour
You've got to be shitting me

I drive 100+ on the interstate and going that fast can make it to the city limits of Mobile in 1.5hrs. Get your head out of your arse and quit making up bullshite. There are enough people here that can call you out and make you look like a retard, so don't even try to act like you have a car

Dude, I understand your gripe with this. Seriously. Many ideas and solutions to BR's problem will never happen because of this.

Maybe he didn't choose? Maybe thats the situation he finds himself in? Perhaps where he works is not a great area and he doesn't want to have his family live there?

You cant get from Perkins to I-10 in 40 minutes during rush hour.

I used to work off Highland and Perkins and would go pick my wife up from time to time near Pennington. I never made it there in less than 35 mins.

my guess would be the City parish backed by the state.

You seemed to be disputing Russian's assertion that it's not practical for any city to build roads large enough to keep peak hour traffic moving at the same rates as non-peak hour traffic. He was 100% correct.

I dispute that. I've always been able to find ways to circumvent the most badly congested areas. There is no obligation to use I-10 to get everywhere in town.

Over 80% of the Green Light Plan spending was in the St. George area.
