Good. Let them keep destroying that region. Perhaps the people will stand up to them at some point.

I read an article, and I can't remember the exact reason. I am pretty sure they view it as a pagan temple, and therefore it has to go.

Mitch Landrieu, the city council, and ISIS have at least one thing in common.

I am really surprised that they have not attempted terrorist attacks on Egyptian Monuments, or anything in Rome (Vatican)

Agree. The two wars in Iraq where a failure. These people have been fighting for thousands of years. I am not sure why we think we can make a difference. Rope them off, and just stay away.

It's about time! Codes have been a thorn in the side for eons at this particular location. Finally they can start building the mixed use pedestrian mall with townhouses, plant some grass, and generally get on with their lives.

And monuments to false gods of the past or present don't need preserving; historical or otherwise. We know they existed because people are ignorant.

Cultural genocide. They are carrying out the commands of Muhammad by destroying idols etc...How else are they going to reform the region into a single, homogenous Muslim caliphate under its control?

Crazy to think that this building was standing and being used during the same time as the death of Jesus.

If it offends anyone, it must be removed...
