Santa Fe or Sedona?

Choosing between one in late October early November.
Both look like awesome places...
Just seeing if anybody feels strongly one way or another that may have been to Both?
I want to hike and sightsee which seems better in Sedona, but also would like to walk around town and eat out which seems better in Santa Fe!
Where should I go?

The surrounding area is beautiful, but the town of Santa Fe feels like a giant tourist trap.

A friend of mine just came back from Sedona. He loved it. He said it's like another planet it's so beautiful.

Not a fan of either. They're both serious tourist traps by now.
Perhaps a little less so would be Taos, but for all I know it could be just as bad.
Non-tourist traps out that way get harder and harder to find.

Can only speak on Santa Fe, but we loved it. Clean, with lots of culture and great food. We actually drove up to Taos the next day. Beautiful drive. Choice of high road (mountains), or low road (runs alongside Rio Grande). Taos is small, secluded resort town. You can research it if you haven't.

Sedona is small, right? Like 10K people?

LOL, yeah. Sedona is a great looking place, but be prepared for ALL kinds of bizarre shite like this if you go. It's literally everywhere.

I went there in May a couple years ago and the traffic to get in town from the north was backed up for at least 5-7 miles.

Sedona
Never been to Santa Fe though
Plus....you can drive less than 45 minutes north up to Flagstaff and walk around their little downtown area. Just an awesome little town and more great hiking trails there.

I agree, Sedona is the better choice just due to it's proximity to Flagstaff. Jerome/Clarksdale is a pretty cool quirky little area too.

89A from Flagstaff. Those roundabouts are complete mind-blowers for a lot of people.

Gotcha....when going to Sedona from Scottsdale I usually take the cottonwood exit off the 17 and enter Sedona from the west side. You avoid all the roundabouts near oak creek village and that whole section that is only 35 mph near all the scenic look out points.
