Well considering I have not returned home in over 18 years, perhaps I am not the norm.

It is expensive but I can't leave. Once you get here it is really hard to imagine living anywhere else.
I own my own business now (real estate and home staging) but moved out here 15 years ago when I was in medical sales.
Lots of jobs in biotech out here.
Oh, and we will need pics of sister living in PB
