Has anyone taken a family vacation to San Antonio? If so, what are the best places to stay with kids? Not sure if there are condos there, or just hotels? Thanks!

Drury Plaza Riverwalk is great. Plus that happy hour

Several good options in SA to keep the kids busy and all the messican girls you can handle.

The SA Sea World had the largest collection of fat Mexicans I have ever seen when we brought the kids there last summer.

Depends how old your kids are and what type of activities you want to do. Lived there for 7 years and honestly don't see it as a vacation spot. The Riverwalk can easily take up just half a day. It's not what it used to be. Yes the Drury on the Riverwalk listed earlier is nice, but again not vacation worthy. La Cantera resort is nice if price is not an issue for you. Sea World is for whale haters so if that's you, go for it. Schlitterban in New Braunfels...never been. If you're there for the first Friday of the month the Pub Run is always fun, but then your kids are SOL if under 21. Good golfing on the north side and in boerne if you can work that in.

Good luck.

It sucks.

Here is a tip...go on hotwire.com and look for a "Resort" near Sea World. There is a 99% probability it will be the Hyatt Hill Country resort. Great place, has lazy river, spa, golf, very relaxing. Not far from Sea World also. I just looked and it is on there for 192 a night. You can get it lower, I've booked for 110 a night before.

San Antonio is a big shithole with the Alamo and the Riverwalk being the exception.

Why vacation there unless you are a Spurs fan?

Hilton by sea world is a nice family resort. They had a kids movie playing outside last time I went with some outdoor fire puts for parents to relax.

It's been awhile since I've been but they used to have 3-4 attractions right across from the Alamo. A Ripley wax museum, a haunted house and some other type kids museum. Plus like other poster said, Natural bridge caverns and also natural bridge wildlife ranch (drive through zoo) are good places for kids. And then there's Sea world, Schittlerbaun and Fiesta Texas. There's things to do its just really spread out.

Like others have said, I'd research other stuff within driving distance, like Natural Bridge Caverns or New Braunfels/Gruene.

San Antonio is going to sound like a boring vacation destination to anyone who's spent a lot of time there, but if you've never been and aren't from Texas, there's stuff to do. If you're into history, there are plenty of sites. If y'all want to wander and shop, you might check out La Vilita (I haven't been in years, but remember my mom and other parents loving it when I was a kid). If you're from somewhere where you don't have Mexican restaurants with mariachis wandering and playing along the patio or dining area, that might be fun too. There are also decent German restaurants, in downtown SA and New Braunfels.

Like others said, a lot depends on how old the kids are and what's fun for y'all.
