What are some companies that you are aware of that we all use today that have multiple companies under their umbrella?

all TVs are made by 3 different companies even though there are like 50 different names they put on them after all the generic parts are assembled to make them

Giant manufactures bikes for lots of different brands. Most carbon bikes come from a couple factories in Taiwan.

Most sunglasses are Luxottica

The outdoor Power Equipment MTD & Hustler were sold to Stanley Black and Decker 2 years ago.

Started 3 to 4 years prior where MTD was a family company and they allowed 1 or 2 SBD people on the board. They had an agreement in x amount of years to buy MTD. It materialized 2020 or 2021.

MTD - stamps a lot of metal
Stanley - buy batteries better and containers to package product.

Gas engines are slowly going away in the OPE industry. MTD, saw the writing on the wall.

Now the new name is Stanley Outdoor Power.

Now
MTD brand
Yard Machine
Cub Cadet
Dewalt mowers
Columbia - mostly Canada or independent dealers
Troy-Bilt
Craftsman
- not all craftsman gas is made by SBD. They bid some stuff out and generators are not made by MTD.
Hustler mowers

Luxottica is a huge eyewear company and owns many of the brands and retail stores people are familiar with.

Them frickers own everything eye related (except Costco) including docs.

Exxon BR supplied all the area gas brands at one time. All the different brand tankers would load up there, except for maybe Texaco which had its own plant not far away

Exxon can make any gasoline, they have all the recipes for any brand. Much of the same with motor oil. Exxon make Quaker State oil, the base stock, it’s loaded, shipped by barge into the intercostal across the river. Goes through the locks, then offloaded.
Last time I checked Placid in Port Allen made Racetrack Gas.

Kirkland wine and vodka at Costco. It tastes the same as name brands and the bottles and lettering even resemble the more expensive brands

If you own a piece of tracked earthmoving Equipmemt other than Caterpillar, odds are you have a Berco undercarriage on it. Caterpillar is the only earthmoving manufacturer who both entirely designs and manufactures it’s own undercarriage.

On the retail level, one hilarious example is shopping mall jewelry stores.

We poor idiots price shop for engagement rings without realizing that Kay Jewelers, Zales, Jared, and half dozen diamond retailers are all the same company.
