Any ideas on why have so many parents have moved their kids out of STM? Attendance looks slim. I thought it used to be a thriving, good school. What are the better schools in EBR area?
Thanks
Thanks

People are crossing Fla Blvd now

Getting out of BR altogether. The ones that can leave the area.

Changing demographics in that area, or the perception thereof, is the issue.
St. George, St. Aloysius, Our Lady of Mercy, and to a lesser extent St. Jude, are the top Catholic elementary schools in the area.

What's bad about St Jude? More than likely my kid will be going there. But I do know that the principal is a grade A Bitc from what I heard

MBS seems like a pretty cool parish. Seems like a ton of younger family involvement. School got a blue ribbon last year, has a great adult softball league and the church is packed each Sunday.

Damn. She really isnt. But principals tend to be forced to play that role. And St Jude is on part with aloysius and St george. Just not as big.

Yep. Since i started researching (a little late i guess) it seems ST. George is all over it. Academics, sports, festival, etc.
If it's about the location, how is Sacred Heart still open? That seems out of the way.
Education is a beast for the young uns in BR.
Thanks for the info and feedback.

Because the school is still great and families in the Garden District/Hundred Oaks are sending their kids there vs Aloysius and Mercy.
We don't have kids yet but they'll probably end up at Mercy if we had to decide today.

The neighborhood is old, at one time that was the largest parochial school in BR. It's just changing demographics.

I've heard its super Asian dominated now. STM was the top school with St George back in the day

By far and away, still the best church festival in the city.

All the schools in the diocese are held to the same standards.

Nothing is bad about it. It has two classes per grade as opposed to 4-5 so it will never compete in athletics but who cares? I like the idea of a smaller school.
I've never heard that Karen Jakubac is a bitch. She's been very pleasant to me and has a genuine concern for the students.

Who downvoted me?
This is common knowledge.
The diocese is a business. Do you think they want any school better than the other? The differences lie in the physical structure and admin.

I know nothing about St Jude except one of the 5th grade teachers is kinda hot. So they have that going for them.
