I know the OT can be a odd place sometimes, but the one thing that unites us is the love we have for our pets.

Beorn's time came calling on Wednesday after she had taken a turn for the worst on Christmas Eve. After rushing her to the hospital Christmas night and a few overnight stays with medicine and observation, it was clear she wasn't progressing positively for a 12-13yo big dog. So, with advice from the vet I made the awful but necessary decision many of us have had to make, and let her go. She went peacefully while I scratched her favorite spot on top of her head. It was 10 years to the day since I'd adopted her and she was the absolute best.

Do me a favor and give your pups a hug for her.

RIP Beorn. I will miss you forever.

Lost two of my dogs this year too. Lost one Father’s Day and another about a month earlier. I wanna believe that we will see them on the other side of eternity. I’m sorry for your big loss. Beautiful dog.

Have a 1 year old golden retriever and am absolutely dreading the day that I will have to do this, even if it's a long ways away (hopefully). RIP Beorn, and sorry for your loss

Does she need putting down? Other than being old, is she sick?

Those last days are always shitty. Sorry dude. It takes a while to get over, if ever.

Is she in pain? If she still eats and gets around why does she need to be put down? Cause she’s old?

Yeah thats tough. A relative had a dog that was 23. Nearly deaf and half blind. Stumbling around. running into shite.

They finally just tied her to the train tracks and waited.

(Not really. I'm not sure what's wrong with me)

It's tough when they get that old. She did finally pass. Sad but for the best.

I dread the inevitability of having to go through this……..even to the point of hoping I go before they do…………..then worry about, if I do go first, I don’t feel that there’s anybody who would care for them after I’m gone the way I do.
