I called y'all hippy pinkos for using that outdated technology all the while I've been using my 5 blade spring mounted blades with a built in pocket pussy.

Y'all said I was pushing down too hard causing me to bleed like a stuck hog. Well, it got me to thinking about my technique, so I thought to give it a whirl again.

Got me a Merkur 39C Sledgehammer with some Feather blades and watched some YouTube vidyuhs on what I've been doing wrong. Well, I'll be damned, if it wasn't me being a retard and not the razors themselves.

I even shaved my head, trimmed my beard real nice like and not one nick. Everything was smooth as damn hell.

I'll DIAF now.

Life’s a much easier ride if we’re willing to re-examine what we think and do with an eye towards improvement. Kudos, good sir

I tried a straight razor once - did not work out well.

I’m obviously using an outdated razor it would seem.

He is, but not for razors. I use the feather blades as well and live the shave they provide.

You ultimately came around, and I still owe you a cherry limeade

How did you come across a Sledgehammer and think it was a good purchase for a first safety razor, if you don’t mind me asking?

I have a Merkur Futur. I wish they’d put the widest blade gap setting from it on a standard gnurled handle instead of that smooth, snap-cap monster that looks weird. The only other razor I use regularly is a Muhle r41. Started on a Merkur 34c and stuck with it for 2-3 years before trying anything else. I may get an old Fat Boy off ebay in the next year or two, as it has a somewhat comparable (or the closest thing to it) as a Futur with a “standard” handle/design. But I also don’t like spending money when things work fine. For that same reason, I’m hooked on Astra Hi-Stainless. Wicked sharp blades, were a little under 1/2 price from Feather last time I ordered. After sampling around a bit, I don’t really care to try any new ones at this point.

Muhle synthetic brushes are pretty awesome. I bought the brush that matches my r41 with their synthetic knot. It was somewhat pricey, but it can raise a lather like nothing else I’ve used before- it easily holds three passes’ worth right on the brush. If using TOBS, I still haven’t found a “bad” scent, but rose, Royal Forest, and almond have been my favorites. Lemon/lime was a little underwhelming. Mr Taylor’s was ok.

I’m still pissed they discontinued Skin Bracer blue aftershave. I knew they did it about 8 years ago but didn’t feel like stocking up on it. I regret it.

Well, when I put my mind to something, I fully intend to dominate the frick out of the task. After watching YouTube safety razor vidyuhs, drinking some bourbon, and watching Motley Crue vidyuhs, I wanted to do it up right.

I did just that.

My one regret in wearing a beard for the last however many years is that I no longer have the opportunity to use a gorgeous brush I was given by a friend on an old shaving forum many, many moons ago. Silver tip badger with an obscenely dense knot. It was either a one off prototype or a very short run from a shaving company that ended up folding up their brush business.

It seems more than a little silly to lather up a brush just to shave my neck, but I might do just that this weekend

Welcome to the club. Also the Rockwell T2 is a BMF. I can’t recommend it enough.

The first time you slice yourself open gives you some time for quiet contemplating and re-evaluation while you wait for your face to clot the copious bleeding.

Feather blades are the best ones I've used. I tried Astra and a few others, but they didn't cut as well or provide as many shaves.

I’m not in to the soy boy neck beard craze. I prefer to shave.

Ive been trying to tell people this for years man.

Even Gillette has said their razor tech had peaked decades ago. All you pay for now is their ridiculous tech speak.

A nice Merkur with some Feather's is the best shave you can get and much cheaper.

The last pack of multi blades I saw was $40 for 4

I love a straight razor shave, but it is not for everyone.

There is a pretty big learning curve when using that single open blade on areas that bleed easily.
